Yin Yoga is a slow paced style of Yoga with postures (mainly floor based) that are held for longer periods of time with the use if bolsters, blankets, cushions and blocks. Yin Yoga poses apply moderate pressure to the connective tissues of the body – the tendons, fascia and ligaments, with the aim of increasing circulation in the joints and improving flexibility. Yin is a very meditative form of Yoga and aims to cultivate awareness of inner silence, and the connection between mind and body. Yin Yoga is not Restorative Yoga, although practitioners generally experience feelings of tranquility and ease, and therefore do feel restored. A Yin Yoga practice is a brilliant way to ease you into the weekend after the stresses of the working week. There is always a lovely long relaxation / meditation at the end of each Yin Yoga session.
